How to Sign Up & Register Here

In order to participate and take full advantage of all the new features available on this site, you must first REGISTER. The process is simple and takes only a few moments. (It only looks complicated below ;-) )


Part A: Click on one of the two “Sign Up” buttons which you’ll see located near the top of the page.

Part B: Complete all the required information to register your account.

Step 1: Username & Email Address

You’ll need to choose a unique “Username” which cannot have any spaces in it. It need not be your real given name. It will simply be used for login purposes. No two people can share an identical login name or give the same email address when registering. This information must be unique to you alone.
NOTE: it is important that you provide a VALID email address as this is where you will receive an email allowing you to “activate” your account.


Step 2: Profile Details

The Profile Details section is fairly straightforward. Note that your “Full Name” is NOT your “Username”. Required fields are marked with an [ * ].


Step 3: Avatar & a Blog

If you choose, you can associate a photo (or avatar) with your account name at this time but you can always add or change it later as well. [Photos should be in .jpeg format and no larger than 200 x 200 pixels.] Simply click on the “Choose File” button, locate the photo on your computer, and then it will be uploaded and auto-scaled to fit your profile. Avatar photos are used throughout the site to identify you and your activity. For the benefit of others, please try to use a recent photo of yourself.

Create a Blog?
This will be something new for many people who were used to the old website where all updates of information had to be handled by the site’s administrator. Now, if you choose to get a blog when you sign up, you will be able to make postings, upload pictures etc to your very own dedicated blog. I would suggest you give it a try.


Step 4: Blog Details

If you said “Gimme a blog!”, you need to complete a few more details. First, what domain name will you use? Keep it relatively short but not too cryptic. Maybe it could simply be your “Username”? NOTE – you cannot edit or change your domain name later. Give it some thought!
Your Blog Title can be easily changed later.
Most people will opt for the “Yes” option under Privacy. This will allow everyone on the site to view your blog.
Remember to click on the signup button.


Step 5: Remember to Activate

If all goes well, you’ll see the screen above.

**BUT YOU ARE NOT DONE YET** — You MUST retrieve your activation email and click on the link there to FULLY ACTIVATE your CHSS-ALUMNI account.


Part C: Activating your Account

You should receive an email (at the address you gave when you started) that looks similar to the one above. Simply CLICK ON THE FIRST LINK.


Step 7: Success! Your account is Activated

If all goes well, you’ll see a screen like this in your web browser telling you that your account is now active. You can write down the Username and Password information. You will also be sent another email like this:

This email also contains a record of your Username and Password. If you’d like to change your password, go here.

There you have it. You are now fully registered on this site. It was easy.
